Welcome to my web page. It exists mainly to make my two current writing projects available to anyone who might be interested. I shall be adding sections or chapters to them regularly. They are From A Writer's Notebook and 'Writing for Life' which in different ways cover the 60 years I have spent as a writer, bookseller, publisher, librarian, film TV and radio script writer and producer, and occasional journalist. The changes that have occurred to the 'book trade' 'knowledge' and entertainment' industries in my lifetime have been truly extraordinary - as significant as the invention of movable type - and these two books are a personal record of them. They may have some value as a resource for social and cultural historians.
